Why are Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul fighting? Mismatched boxers seeking to “have fun and do nine figures”
Floyd Mayweather go fight Logan Paul, and a lot of people are probably wondering “Why?” “
There is a very simple answer to why Mayweather and Paul are fighting: money.
While professional boxing matches usually have some sort of belt that they fight for, exhibition matches offer a different incentive. Sometimes there’s a real reason behind them, whether it’s beef between the two parties or something to prove between them. But in Mayweather’s case against Paul, it’s mostly about the salary.
Paul is no stranger to the income he can generate from boxing. In his professional fight against KSI, he pocketed $ 900.00 just for the fight itself, according to the California State Athletic Commission. He also reportedly made money through PPV actions and DAZN subscriptions (the service that broadcast the fight).
Official figures were never released on the number of pay-per-view purchases for DAZN, but promoter Eddie Hearn said, “The first fight made 1.2 million pay-per-view purchases worldwide. was much, much bigger this time around. ” Reports indicated that there had been an additional 216,000 UK PPV purchases on Sky Sports.
It’s basically a way of saying that there is a lot of money to be made in this fight.
