What number will Julio Jones wear with the Titans? Tennessee reveal star receiver’s jersey number

Titans fans who want to buy a Julio Jones jersey now know which number to look for.

Tennessee tweeted on Tuesday that Jones will wear the number 2 when he dresses for the team in the 2021 season.

The announcement ends speculation about the very large number. Jones wore number 11 with the Falcons, but when offered the number by his compatriot AJ Brown, Jones refused.

Some, like AL.com, have speculated if Jones could wear the number 8, considering that was the number he wore when playing college football for Alabama. Jones’ choice eliminates the possibility of Titans running back Derrick Henry, another former Crimson Tide member, returning to his former No.2 college.

When Henry joined Tennessee, he was not allowed to wear number 2 and instead turned to number 22 due to NFL restrictions on jersey numbers by position. However, in April, the The NFL approved a rule to provide more flexibility. Based on the new rule, backs can wear any number between 1-49 or 80-89, the same range for wide receivers.

According to a The Tennessean report (Nashville, Tenn.), only former kicker Rob Bironas has already worn number 2 in the history of the team. Bironas’ 1,032 points rank second in Tennessee history.
