Warner Bros. Discovery to be official name of new media company after AT&T spin-off
The next big player in the streaming war now has a name: Warner Bros. Discovery.
David Zaslav, the Discovery The CEO, who will lead the new combined company if cleared by regulators, announced the name to WarnerMedia employees on Tuesday, according to a press release.
“We love the name of the new company because it represents the combination of Warner Bros.” legendary century-old legacy of creative, authentic storytelling and daring risk-taking to bring the most amazing stories to life, with Discovery’s global brand that has always brilliantly represented integrity, innovation and inspiration, ”said Zaslav to employees at the Burbank, Calif., Studio, the statement said.
The company’s slogan will be, “the stuff that dreams are made of,” a nod to the Warner Bros. movie. from 1941, “The Maltese Falcon”.
The new media company would be the result of a $ 43 billion merger project between Discovery and WarnerMedia, which AT&T said it would shoot just three years after purchasing Time Warner (as it was named at the time) following a protracted battle with the Ministry of Justice.
