The service will of course work on all Amazon Fire TV devices. So that includes Fire TV smart TVs, Fire TV sticks, and Amazon’s Fire TV Cube.
What does Vudu on Amazon Fire TV bring to the table?
Now, according to Fandango EVP, Commercial Director Kevin Shepela, the goal here is to make sure Vudu fans can “watch movies and TV shows on all of their favorite devices.” And Amazon’s Fire TV platform is one of the most requested devices yet missing from this puzzle. But what does Vudu actually bring to the table?
In summary, Vudu offers over 150,000 movies and TV shows. Some of them are free with ads while others can be bought or rented. And all this without a subscription. Movies and shows rented or purchased from Vudu can, of course, be downloaded for offline viewing. And the list includes fan favorites, classics, and new content. Some of the latest Vudu releases for this month include the latest SpongeBob movie, Disney Pixar’s “Soul”, and recent shows such as “The Walking Dead”, “Young Rock” and “The Flash”.
Perhaps more importantly, Vudu offers a significant number of movies in its catalog on demand and purchasable in 4K UHD. And, of course, the movies can be bought or rented on any available platform and then watched on any available platform.
With this announcement, all of this can be broadcast via any Amazon Fire TV device.
What else does this bring to Vudu fans?
Along with availability on Amazon Fire TV devices, there should be at least one more benefit to Vudu fans with this addition. Namely, this should open the possibility of accessing Vudu content via voice. Specifically, through Amazon Alexa on Fire TV devices.
