Twitter jokes about Kawhi Leonard’s aerial ball and Rajon Rondo’s reaction to the Clippers’ loss to the Mavericks
The Clippers had a chance to tie their game against the Mavericks late, but Kawhi Leonard couldn’t get the job done.
In fact, the Los Angeles star didn’t come close to scoring the equalizer.
With just under nine seconds to go, Leonard saw the ball sent back to him in the corner. Needing a 3-point pointer to tie the game at 103, he tried to generate space between himself and Dorian Finney-Smith to get a clean shot. He managed to throw a shot with about seven seconds on the clock, but he didn’t even catch the rim on the way down.
Yes, Kawhi Leonard made one of the most important shots he’s taken so far in the playoffs. And it didn’t look like his teammate Rajon Rondo was happy with Leonard’s shooting selection.
It’s not often that a star player misses an equalizer opportunity so badly, especially when he hits a shot with more than five seconds on the clock.
As a result, Leonard’s dud and Rondo’s disbelieving reaction took to social media, with Twitter users having fun at the expense of the two losing Clippers.
These Twitter jokes and memes are certainly hilarious, but it can be hard for the Clippers to find a lot of humor in them.
After their 105-100 loss to the Mavericks, they are on the verge of elimination and must win back-to-back games to advance. The next game is in Dallas, so Luka Doncic and Co. will be stepping up to try to shut them down and turn the series upside down.
