The My Actions feature of the Google app makes it easy to access personalized shortcuts
It looks like Google wants to make your life a little easier. According to XDA Developers, the search giant is working on a My Actions feature. Recently, Google started rolling out version 220.127.116.11 of the Google app on the Play Store.
The new update brings new features. These include support for voice commands while browsing. The cool thing about it is that it will work even when you don’t have an internet connection. The update also gives users easier access to privacy settings and more.
What’s cool, though, are the signs for the upcoming My Actions feature. The new feature will allow users to configure custom shortcuts for their favorite Google Assistant commands. For example, if you have a command that will turn off all your lights when you say a phrase, you will now be able to access it more easily.
When developers take an APK apart, it allows them to get a feel for the features that might be under development. It doesn’t mean the new features will happen. But rather it shows what can happen to users later on. Nothing is cemented until the developer of the app, in which case Google officially releases new features.
The My Actions function will facilitate access to commands
However, the teardown has many new lines of code that display various strings. You can go through XDA to see the full new code. Users can already create and use custom commands. This part is not new. However, the upcoming “My Actions” feature will allow users to use their custom commands with just the press of a button instead of having to say a phrase.
Users may even be able to pin their custom actions somewhere for better access. This could take the form of adding them to your homescreen, but nothing is 100% known at this time. Google released something similar before that gave users the option to create shortcuts for Google Assistant routines.
XDA says they’re trying to get the feature to work, but haven’t been able to get it up and running yet. However, there is a screenshot of what the setup looks like. This will give users an idea of what might be in store in the future.
New features are always fun. The new features that make life easier are even better. It will be more a question of quality of life. But having the ability to access their custom orders faster will surely make many users happy.
