Telegram Preps Group Read received, but with a capture
Telegram is finally preparing to add support for group read receipts. Telegram latest beta brings this feature, Reddit user RationalityOn To Point (Going through Android Police). And it works as you might expect: lets you see who has read your post in a group. However, there is a catch. Comments on the Reddit thread suggest that this feature only works in groups of 50 members or less. So you still won’t be able to see read receipts on Telegram groups with more than 50 members.
But in small groups, you can see exactly who saw a specific message by long pressing it. This brings up a context menu with a widget that shows how many people have seen the post. By tapping on this widget, you will see the usernames of all these members. If you are using Telegram on the desktop, right clicking on a message brings up the same menu.
Note that you can only see read receipts for messages you have sent. You cannot see who has viewed messages sent by other group members. Likewise, only the sender of a particular message will know if you have viewed it.
Telegram Finally Adds Support For Group Read Receipts
Telegram is one of the most popular messages applications there, alongside WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and others. And like any other app, it has its own pros and cons. Most notably, he was missing group read receipts all this time, which most of his rivals have long been offering. The company is finally preparing the feature film.
But not everyone seems to like it. While some think it might be useful to know who viewed their messages, others say that users should be able to check messages in groups without anyone knowing. Perhaps Telegram could make this feature optional so that those who wish can activate it. The current iteration apparently does not have such a parameter. But it’s still in beta, so things can change a lot before the stable version is here.
It’s unclear when Telegram will roll out Group Read Receipts to the stable channel. The company may want to listen to user feedback before making the feature public. We will let you know as soon as we have more information or the feature is publicly released. Meanwhile, you can try out the feature yourself by installing the latest beta version of Telegram for your Android smartphone from the Microsoft App Center. here.
