miHoYo shares his ideas on porting Genshin Impact to PS5

The liberation of Genshin impact on the PS5 is just around the corner. Precisely in a week. Earlier this month, the miHoYo team shared details on what to expect with the new PS5 version of the game.

This included things like faster frame rates and 4K visuals for a fuller experience. And generally smoother gameplay than the PS4 version. Which you can also install on the PS5. As expected, Genshin Impact PS5 release will continue to arrive April 28.

But before that, the miHoYo team wanted to share with gamers some information about what they had done to port the game to Sony’s latest PlayStation console.

Genshin Impact PS5 release comes with exclusive remodeled backdrops

Without delving into too much detail, the team explains that they have redesigned Genshin Impact’s decor for the PS5. This is exclusively for this new console. Because the developers wanted to take advantage of the powerful hardware that the PS5 has to offer.

In addition to the redesigned sets, a graphics library was built entirely from scratch. The team also built a custom file loading system to make better use of the super fast SSD that came with the PS5.

While the PS5 version will already have improved graphics, the steps taken by miHoYo as part of the port were also to make the game more durable. Stating that due to the newly built graphics library and custom file loading system, it “Will have more potential to raise the charts” in the future.

This doesn’t necessarily mean higher resolution, but probably small nuances that contribute to an improved overall visual experience in the game.

High-resolution textures tell a unique story

miHoYo pays a lot of attention to detail in as many visual aspects of the game as possible. Aims to tell players a story in the most unlikely places. Like moldings on timber structures or the draw distance for a look at distant parts of the landscape.

The visual improvements in the game are not just aimed at making the game look stunning. miHoYo seems to want to immerse the player in the world in new ways. And these little details are a way for the team to do just that.

These little details, coupled with the native 4K resolution and HDR support (if you have an HDR display), will help Genshin Impact look better than ever on a PlayStation console. If you have a PS5 and haven’t played Genshin Impact yet, you should try it out next week.
