Kyrie Irving injury update: will the Nets star play in Game 7 against Bucks?
There was always a chance the Nets vs. Bucks playoffs would go the distance, but Brooklyn probably didn’t imagine the Eastern Conference semifinals going that way.
The Nets have been struggling with health issues since the first minute of Game 1, when James Harden limped off the ground with hamstring strain. Harden has since joined the starting lineup, but Kyrie Irving missed the last two games after spraining her right ankle in Game 4.
Will Harden and Kevin Durant be forced to carry the offensive charge again with Brooklyn on the brink of elimination?
Here are the latest updates on Irving ahead of Saturday’s Game 7.
Will Kyrie Irving play against Bucks?
Irving is listed as absent for Game 7 on the official Nets injury report. Brooklyn coach Steve Nash told reporters on Friday that Irving continued to receive treatment but still had “a few miles to go.”
Nash offered a silver lining, however, saying Irving’s ankle injury is not considered the end of the season.
“I think if we can move forward he will be back at some point,” Nash said. “I don’t know if it’s in a few days, in a week or beyond, but I think it’s not a season-threatening situation.”

In Brooklyn’s Game 4 loss, the seven-time All-Star landed on the foot of Giannis Antetokounmpo after an attempted shot near the edge, angering some Nets fans who thought Antetokounmpo had intentionally slipped under Irving.
Nash disagreed with this assessment of the play.
“I wouldn’t want to go into Giannis head and make proclamations. I thought it was an awkward piece,” Nash said Monday. “He ended up getting under Kyrie when he was in the air. I think it would be a big effort for me to sit here and say he intended to do it in any way. . I don’t think that’s the kind of person that I don’t think happened either. It was just embarrassing and unhappy. ”
