How to block a phone number with built-in call blocking features

Nowadays, most Android phones have simple, native ways to block specific numbers. This was not always the case, however, many OEMs had to create the functionality themselves. This means that you will have to work a little harder to thwart these telemarketers, depending on your device.

Needless to say, we can’t go into detail on the steps required to block calls on every phone. However, we can show you how to block callers on most major Android devices.

How to block a stock Android phone number

If you can’t wait to block a phone number on a stock android combined as the Pixel 5, You have come to the right place. There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to open your Phone app and go to the section containing your recent calls. Long press one of them and select “Block number”.

The second method is to open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner, and select Settings. In the menu, just tap Call blocking and add the numbers you want to block. You can also use the call blocking menu to block all unknown numbers at the same time,

Many people choose Samsung Phones, so there is a good chance this section is the right one for you. Samsung is one of the biggest smartphone makers in the world, after all. You can block a number through the Contacts app or your Phone app. Here are the simple steps you will need:

Block in contacts:

  1. Open the Contacts app.
  2. Locate the contact you want to block.
  3. Press the After menu, located in the lower right corner.
  4. Press the Block contact and tap Block again to confirm.

Block in the Phone app:

  1. Open the Call app.
  2. Press the After button, then touch Settings.
  3. Now locate and press the Block numbers button and choose Add a phone number.
  4. Once you have entered the phone number, press the More button to add it to your contacts.

Either way, you’ll need to know which numbers you want to block, so it’s not ideal if you’re hoping to block all unknown numbers.

How to block calls on LG phones

We will now show you how to block a phone number if you have a LG Phone. While there aren’t any new ones on the market anytime soon, knowing how to use the phone you own is important. The process is similar to other phone brands on this list, but there are slight differences. Here we are:

Block from call history:

  1. Open your Call and access the Call history tongue.
  2. Tap the recent call for the number you want to block.
  3. press the After button in the upper right corner and select Block number.

Block from your dialer:

  1. Open your phone’s app on the dialer screen.
  2. Press the Menu button, go to call settings and find the Block and reject calls with message section.
  3. You can now choose from three options to block different numbers:
    • Blocked numbers: Block a new number with the plus symbol
    • Digit filter: Block or screen numbers that begin or end with a specific combination of digits
    • Private numbers: Simple toggle to control whether or not you will receive calls from private numbers

Oneplus is yet another popular choice for many people. It is based on the lightweight OxygenOS, which is very similar to the stock Android. However, the steps aren’t the same, so here’s what you need to know:

  1. From your home screen, open the Call app.
  2. Press the Menu icon, located at the top right.
  3. To select Settings then press Block settings.
  4. To choose Blocked numbers and add a number with the More icon.
  5. Once you have entered the number, select Block.

Filter and block spam calls:

  1. Open the Call app.
  2. Press the After button (indicated by three dots).
