Google Stadia loses its product lead
Google Stadiums possesses would have lost his product manager John Justice. While that doesn’t exactly spell disaster for the platform, just like other high-level changes, rumors are sure to spin and start discussions.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Google would be shutting down Stadia Games & Entertainment. The company’s in-house studio that was dedicated to delivering exclusive first-party game titles. Around the same time, he also lost Jade Raymond, the president of that studio.
Both of these changes have prompted many questions for Stadia fans and users alike. So it seems the same is happening here.
Google confirms the departure of Stadia product manager John Justice
Initially, it was not clear whether the report on John Justice leaving Google was accurate. But according to 9To5Google a spokesperson confirmed that Justice was no longer with the company.
Along with the title of Product Manager, Justice was also the Vice President of Stadia. Which means that in just a few months, Stadia lost both its vice president and the president of its now closed in-house studio. John Justice was primarily responsible for leading the service’s customer experience.
This included discussions about new features to come. Which would end up in Google’s “Stadia Connect” videos. Although Google hasn’t actually discussed upcoming features since last year. One big reason being that Stadia’s promising features won’t show up until much later.
Stadia got off to a pretty rough start when it launched in November 2019. In large part due to the sheer amount of features and games released long past the promised launch dates.
Stadia keeps moving forward
Despite the loss of some key team members, Stadia continues to improve in a number of ways. Just about every week or two, Stadia announces a new crop of games coming out or will be released.
In 2021 alone, Stadia is expected to get a total of 100 new game titles. Some of these have already made their way into player libraries.
It also continues to develop more features to add quality of life to the entire platform. Like the search bar it just introduced to the web. As well as better handling of Stadia capture content. However, it still lacks at least one feature that subscribers have been waiting for. Group chat on Android. Something that might come in handy for those who prefer Android as the device of choice for accessing Stadia content.
