Google Pay will now help you save money on errands
Google announced several new improvements to Google Pay, and one of them will help you save money on errands. The company has actually announced three ways to help you save money on errands, afford transit fares in more cities, and better understand your spending at the same time.
Save money on groceries with Google Pay
Let’s start with the grocery store, okay. Google has partnered with Safeway to help you save on groceries. This way, it will be extremely easy for you to find grocery deals from the Google Pay app.
You can find deals on items at over 500 Safeway stores across the United States. You can also find similar offers at Target stores across the United States. All you have to do is search for Safeway or Target in the app, then tap “View Weekly Deals”.
The whole process can be even better if you enable the location in the app. Google Pay will soon be able to notify you of weekly offers at both stores when you’re nearby.
Paying for public transport becomes available in even more cities
You will now be able to pay for public transport in even more cities with Google Pay. The app already supports these payments in more than 80 cities in the United States. Well, Google is adding Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area to this list.
Google aims to bring mobile ticketing to more people through a partnership with Token Transit. The company plans to do this for small towns across the country, not just big cities.
You will soon be able to use Google Pay to access public transit fares. You can press the “Cross public transport” shortcut and buy or add a public transport card, top up the balance and pay your fare.
Best of all, once you’ve purchased a transit card, you won’t even need to unlock your phone to pay for transit. You’ll just have to present it to the reader, and that’s it. If there is no reader in sight, you will be able to view the ticket from your phone.
Checking your monthly expenses has never been easier
On top of everything, Google also improves the overview of your monthly spending. Just go to the “Insights” tab and you can view your balances and useful information about your spending.
Now Google is aiming to improve the overall experience. The company recently added a very quick way to see your spending by category or by company. You can simply search for “food” and see how much you spent on food, as well as your transactions.
The company says you can be much more specific than that. You can type “Burger King”, for example, or search for “burgers” and get more detailed information on these expenses.
