Giants to be first MLB team to wear Pride uniforms
The Giants plan to celebrate Pride Month in a way unlike any Major League Baseball team to date.
On Tuesday, the Giants announced that they will incorporate the 11 Pride colors into their field uniforms with a San Francisco logo pride patch on the right sleeve of the shirt and a hat personalized with the pride colors in the shirt. logo.
San Francisco will be in uniform on Saturday in a home game against the Cubs.
“We are extremely proud to support the LGBTQ + community as we launch one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco honoring the countless accomplishments and contributions of all who identify as LGBTQ + and are allies of the LGBTQ + community.” , Giants President and CEO Larry Baer said in the statement.
According to a report on the Giants Team Page, fans who purchase SF Pride Day tickets on Saturday will receive limited edition “SF Pride” t-shirts, and a portion of the ticket proceeds will go to San Francisco Pride.
The uniform decision is the last for the Giants’ organization to get ahead of the rest of the MLB. In 2019, the Eugene Emeralds, the Giants High-A affiliate, wore pride jerseys and became the first minor league baseball team to incorporate the colors into their uniform.
