Bucs’ Devin White has an impressive 40-yard running time against Mecole Hardman, Henry Ruggs, Justin Jefferson
It’s rare that you can find a linebacker who can keep up with some of the NFL’s fastest receivers, but the Buccaneers have one in Devin White.
White competed in a race with three NFL receivers that aired on the Bleacher Report app on Thursday afternoon. All of the athletes were at different locations and each was challenged to run a 40 yard dash.
Although White didn’t win, he still posted a time of 4.37 seconds on the 40-yard dash, good for third place in the race and 0.13 seconds faster than star catcher Justin Jefferson. . It followed the likes of Mecole Hardman and Henry Ruggs by less than 0.15 seconds.
Truth be told, White’s time is perhaps the most impressive of all. He wasn’t the fastest, but he managed to clock the time of 4.37 despite weighing 237 pounds. For context, Hardman weighs just 178 pounds while Ruggs weighs 188. And Jefferson, who beat White, tips the scales at 202.
Suffice it to say, it’s an incredible combination of size and speed, and one few NFL players could match.
In addition, White has cut his 40-yard running time by 0.05 seconds since competing in the 2019 NFL Combine. At the time, he was running a 40 of 4.42 seconds, just 0.01 seconds longer. faster than Devin Bush.
If White ran in the combine today and posted his time in the Bleacher Report race, it would be the fastest 40-yard scorecard a linebacker ever recorded. Shaquem Griffin’s 40-yard 4.38-second scorecard at the 2018 NFL Combine is the fastest LB combine time on record.
This number does not mean much to whites; it just helps confirm what we already knew.
He’s a weird athlete.
