Android Auto Music Bug Pauses Your Music If You Open Another App

According to 9to5Google, there’s a new Android Auto music bug that pauses your music when you open an app. This affects the phone that powers Android Auto. However, this seems to only affect some users at the moment, so that’s good news.

Now this can be very boring. If you need to update your route through Google Maps, your music may be paused. The purpose of Android Auto is to prevent drivers from being distracted while driving. Android Auto gives users access to everything they need while driving.

However, if you are driving and your music pauses, it will remain paused until the app you opened is closed. Granted, you shouldn’t be opening any other apps while driving if everything you need is presented by Android Auto. But, sometimes things happen and you might have to look for another app. You may need to reserve your seat at a restaurant you are in through the restaurant’s app.

Either way, the bug affects some users. Users reported it on Google’s support forums. Users who accessed Google’s support forums started writing reports in March and April. Other users report that this happens much longer than is unfortunate.

As with most random bugs, the cause is unknown. This is clearly not the way Android Auto should work, and as of yet, Google has not explained why this is happening. Hopefully a fix will be available soon. However, reports of this strange bug have slowed down. As a result, a fix may have been included in a recent update for Android Auto.

It is more of a quality of life issue. It doesn’t break Android Auto, but it’s still a bug that needs to be fixed. It can be boring while driving and cause your music to stop out of nowhere. Listening to music can certainly make the driving experience ten times better.

Anyway, as noted, it looks like a recent update may have fixed the bug in the situation. There is also a new Android Auto update which has been spotted with a feature that will block your device from connecting if USB debugging is enabled.

There are also rumors that the new update will bring further improvements to Day / Night mode. That being said, I hope the weird music bug is completely eliminated before any possible new features are rolled out.
