A slew of new Telegram features just arrived
The popular communication platform, Telegram, has a few advantages for its users. According to a blog post from the company, there are a handful of cool and useful features that have just hit the platform. These include some cool tweaks and additions.
New Telegram features include payment 2.0 functionality
With Payments 2.0, providers can accept payments from any chat. Not only that, but they can natively accept payments from a list of eight different third-party payment providers. These are Stripe, Sberbank, Tranzzo, Payme, CLICK, LiqPay, ECOMMPAY and Yandex.Money. What’s also great is the fact that you can add tips to transactions.
Media viewing has been improved a bit
You can now rewind and fast forward the video playback. For iOS, you hold down the “+ 15s” or “-15s” options to fast forward or rewind. For Android, you just need to hold your finger on the left side of the screen to rewind and on the right side for fast forward. Is it better than the double tap method we see on Youtube will probably be a matter of opinion.
Watching pictures also has a small advantage. If you wanted to zoom in on an image, you would have to tap the image to open the photo viewer and then pinch to zoom. Now you can just pinch the image without having to tap on it.
There are mini profiles and scheduled voice chats
Some of the coolest features include the Mini Profile Viewer. If you’re in a voice chat, you can take a quick look at the profiles of the users you’re talking to. You press and hold the user’s profile, and a mini preview will appear, allowing you to look at their profile picture and see their bio.
With the mini-profiles feature, you can even edit your profile picture and bio. The good thing is that you can do this without leaving the chat.
Next comes the programmed voice chat function. You now have the option to schedule a voice chat at a later date or time. You will see a countdown for when the discussion will take place. You also have the option to receive a notification when a chat takes place. The chat will not be done automatically, however, the administrator will need to press the “Start Now” button.
In addition to these new Telegram features, there are two new web apps
Just a few weeks ago, Telegram introduced two new web apps that improved on their outdated web version. Telegram still hasn’t given a concrete reason as to why they opted for two apps, but they’re both available. There are some major UI tweaks and additional functionality. Learn more about these apps here.
These new Telegram features are taking a long time to reach the Play Store. Google said it “is currently experiencing longer than usual review times due to changed work schedules.” Android users can download the APK file.
