Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Price: Free to play

Nintendo actually offers an Animal Crossing game on mobile. The official game isn’t as open or as big as the Nintendo Switch version, but it does contain a lot of the same elements. You start with a campsite and then add a bunch of things to it that you learn about as you play. The game includes over 1000 pieces of furniture, 300 clothes and a variety of mini-games for a lot of things to do. It’s as close as it gets to a real Animal Crossing experience on mobile as it is a real Animal Crossing game.

Don’t Starve: Castaway

Price: $ 4.99

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked doesn’t have the cute, relaxed nature of Animal Crossing. However, he has many of the same ideas. You start out on a desert island and get ready to collect items and craft items to make it your own. The main difference is an element of survival, so you have to stay alive long enough to do all the activities. The game is a bit buggy at times and the controller support could be better. Other than that, it’s a decent survival sim to repair a desert island to make it your own.

Emulators

Price: Free / $ 4.99

There are several Animal Crossing games on older consoles. Unfortunately, some of them are not available without emulation, so we recommend an emulator. The three that we think are the best for this are the DraStic DS emulator (linked to the button), M64Plus FZ (Nintendo 64), and Dolphin emulator. With these three items, you can play original Animal Crossing (Nintendo 64 or GameCube, your choice) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS). We do not tolerate piracy, so please have original copies of the game so that it is not illegal. Emulators are the best way to experience Animal Crossing on mobile as long as you do it legally.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope

Price: $ 14.99

Harvest Moon is a reasonably decent competitor to Animal Crossing. Players start by going on a journey and instead crash near a port city. From there, they created a farm and were able to live their new life. The game includes villager quests, various events to play and a bunch of other things. It’s not a direct competitor of Animal Crossing, although nothing really is. But still, it’s the same kind of relaxing experience.

Happy street

Price: Free to play

Happy Street is a 2D hybrid of city building simulation, agricultural and social simulation. You build a city for the benefit of its citizens, collect various resources, farm items, customize your character and explore the surroundings. It’s not as in-depth as a real Animal Crossing game, but there’s definitely enough to scratch that proverbial itch. It’s a reasonably relaxing game and you can play it at your own pace. The only downside is that it really seems to want you to use a Facebook account.

Minecraft (or Terraria)

Price: $ 6.99 with in-app purchases

Minecraft is a classic game. It’s a decent alternative for the same reason Don’t Starve works as an alternative. You can farm items, craft items, explore, build your own buildings, and do whatever you want. That’s right, you don’t get the relaxing feeling of Animal Crossing, and there aren’t any cute talking animals either. However, all other parts of the game are here to some extent. You can go fishing, although it’s admittedly not as fun in Minecraft as it is in Animal Crossing. Terraria is obviously a great alternative to Minecraft. You can choose one or the other.

Poom Games

Price: Free to play

Poom Games is a developer on Google Play with a few games like Animal Crossing. The first is Cat Forest. You start at a campsite, collect visitors, and do a bunch of other things. Players can collect things, build things, grow things and a little more. The second option is Animal Camp and it’s a building simulation on an island resort. It looks a lot like Cat Forest except there are more animals than cats and it’s on an island rather than a forest. Both are decent choices as time killers.

Sea beard

Price: Free to play

Seabeard is one of the oldest staples for games like Animal Crossing. You start off as a pirate and from there you can do whatever you want. Some of the things you can do include exploring nearby islands, cooking food, meeting characters, trading things, and even saving other castaways. Free items are a little less than desirable, but the game doesn’t really need them. This one has been around for about six years now and it has six years of maturity to integrate its content.

Stardew Valley

Price: $ 6.99

Stardew Valley is a great alternative to Animal Crossing for the same reason Harvest Moon works as an alternative. You don’t get the cute animals or the super cold feeling, but everything else is there. You build your abandoned farm, do things for and with the townspeople, go fishing, craft things, grow plants and much more. To be fair, we recommend this one on Harvest Moon first since it’s in active development and seems to have a lot fewer bugs. Plus, this one is free if you use Google Play Pass and $ 6.99 without it (without in-app purchases).
